Lamar Odom reportedly entered rehab in San Diego, California, almost one year after his near-fatal incident in a Nevada brothel. TMZ was the first to report the news.
“It was his own decision. He wanted to work on his mental and physical health for the next chapter of his life,” a source told E! News. “He has not fallen off the wagon, but he understands the importance of maintaining his sobriety.”
TMZ says the former NBA player had already been at the facility for four days as of Monday and will continue to stay there for an undisclosed amount of time.
In October 2015, Odom was found unconscious in a room at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch South in Nevada. The basketball player was said to be “fighting for his life” after overdosing on a mixture of drugs. He miraculously recovered from the incident.
Several months later, in July, Odom’s estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, kicked him out of a house she rented for him after reportedly finding a crack pipe on the property. Shortly after that discovery, Odom was removed from a flight for being visibly drunk and vomiting on the plane before takeoff. People has reported that the couple’s marriage, begun in 2009, will officially end Dec. 17.
The Huffington Post has reached out to Odom’s representation and will update this post accordingly.
