LONDON It is a truth universally acknowledged that Donald Trump LOVES Twitter.

In fact, his stream of consciousness tweets and personal musings could be considered a pithy Bridget Jones-esque diary about the ups and downs of life as PEOTUS.

One comedian has created a parody Twitter account dedicated to Donald Trump diary entries written in the style of Bridget Jones’ Diary. And, it’s the stuff of magic.

Tiff Stevenson a standup comic based in London got the idea for the account in early January when she observed that one of Trump’s tweets bore a similarity to Bridget Jones’ Diary. She decided to turn Donald Trump tweets into diary entires written in the style of Bridget Jones. From there, Bridget Trump was born.

“It’s remarkable how little you have to change,” says Stevenson.

Stevenson believes that Jones and Trump have remarkable amount in common.

“There are so many parallels between Bridget and Donald. They are both utterly consumed with how other people see them and they are constantly chasing after the wrong guy,” says Stevenson.

“They share a love of words and exclamation marks too, such as vile!, tremendous!, media!, winning!, stupid!, weak!, smart!, loser!, love!” Stevenson continues.

Bridget Trump’s Diary touches on a variety of issues that have plagued Trump in recent weeks.

Of course, there are several entries relating to Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes speech.

Naturally, Theresa May and Nigel Farage get several mentions.

Money is also of the utmost importance to Bridget Trump.

And, Bridget Trump even revealed a lack of knowledge about Brexit in one entry.

And, of course, the inauguration line-up is deeply troubling to Bridget Trump.

In addition to the parallels between the two of them, Stevenson believes that Trump could learn a lot from Bridget Jones.

“I think Trump could learn a lot from Bridget because she is likeable and when she makes a mistake she owns it rather than point the finger of blame at others,” says Stevenson.

“Also, Bridget is always trying to improve herself and reach higher. Donald thinks he is tremendous (just the way he is) and won’t tolerate any difference in that opinion,” she continues.

Perhaps we should all take a leaf out of Bridget’s book.
